This policy explains how the Cordoba Peace Institute – Geneva (“CPI”, “we”) uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, in English, French and Arabic, and how you can control them.
Who we are
The controller is the Cordoba Peace Institute – Geneva, Chemin des Vignes 2bis, 1209 Geneva, Switzerland. For any question about this policy or your data: info@cpi-geneva.org.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work the same way, and this policy covers them too. Some cookies are needed for the website to work; the others are optional and are used only if you agree.
Your choice
- On your first visit, we ask for your consent. “Reject all” is as easy as “Accept all”, and you can choose category by category.
- Optional cookies stay off unless you turn them on. Nothing is ticked in advance, and the whole website remains available if you say no.
- You can change or withdraw your consent at any time with the cookie button, the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page, or the button below. Withdrawing deletes the statistics cookies.
- We ask again every 6 months, and whenever we change the cookies we use.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a refusal of optional cookies.
The cookies we use
The list below is kept up to date automatically from the website’s settings.
Content from other services
Some pages contain videos, maps or posts from other services (for example YouTube, Vimeo, Google Maps or social networks). They load only with your consent: until then, a placeholder stands in their place and no data is sent. Once loaded, these services receive your IP address and may set their own cookies, under their own policies.
Legal bases
- Necessary cookies: they are strictly needed for the service you request (art. 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive) and rely on our legitimate interest in running a secure website (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Optional cookies (statistics, external media): your consent (art. 6(1)(a) and art. 7 GDPR; art. 5(3) ePrivacy Directive), which you can withdraw at any time without affecting what came before.
- In Switzerland: the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and art. 45c of the Telecommunications Act. We apply the stricter European standard to every visitor, wherever they are.
Proof of consent
To be able to show what you chose, we keep an anonymous record of it: a random ID (also stored in your cpi_consent cookie), the date and the categories chosen. No IP address is kept. These records are deleted after 6 months plus 6 months.
Transfers abroad
With your consent, some statistics or embedded-content providers may process data outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area, notably in the United States. Such transfers rely on an adequacy decision (the EU–US and Swiss–US Data Privacy Frameworks) or on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
No selling, no advertising
We do not use advertising cookies, we do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
Managing cookies in your browser
Your browser also lets you block or delete cookies. If you block the necessary ones, some features, such as remembering your choices, will stop working.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and the FADP, you can ask to access your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict or object to its processing, and receive it in a portable format. Write to us at info@cpi-geneva.org. You may also complain to a data protection authority: in Switzerland, the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (edoeb.admin.ch); in the European Union, the authority of your country (edpb.europa.eu).
Changes
We update this page when our practices change. The date of the last update is shown at the bottom of the page, and after any important change we ask for your consent again.
