Khader Elias Festival

Khader Elias Holiday is a religious holiday celebrated annually by Iraqis, in February, and it was recently placed on the List for Intangible Cultural Heritage. It corresponds to the advent of spring in February of every year, and it’s also known as “The nature’s fertility holiday and the advent of blessing”. In coordination with the Municipality of Talafar, Cordoba Cultural Café contributed to the Khader Elias Festival on the 22nd of February 2023. People of Sinjar were invited to participate in the festival, in order to revive and strengthen the relations between the Turkmen and Yazidi communities.
