ICMP Conference on Missing Persons

CPI participated in a conference organised by the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP) in Erbil on 25-26 August 2022, which brought together the main actors concerned with the fate of missing persons. The conference was attended by the State Council, the Ministry of Interior, the Martyrs Foundation, UNITAD, the Iraqi Ministry of Justice, the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Health, the ICRC, the Iraqi Supreme Court and the Vice-President of the Permanent National Committee for International Humanitarian Law in Iraq. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the development of a national entity and to reach consensus on a law on missing persons.
