Talafar Citadel Mural

In December 2022, CPI oversaw the construction of the Talafar Citadel Mural, which was designed and painted by the Arts have Language group, a group of young boys and girls interested in the arts and striving to enhance Talafari’s identity through the arts. Sadly, this citadel, which has a rich history dating back over 3000 years, was destroyed by ISIS in 2014. Since then, UNESCO and CPI have been working to rebuild it, as it is an important part of Iraq’s heritage. Working collectively and inclusively to preserve this heritage for future generations has provided a link to the past and is a source of pride and cultural identity for communities.
