8th Cordoba Now Forum, Geneva, November 2014

The Cordoba Foundation of Geneva conducted its 8th Cordoba Now Forum meeting, in Geneva, from the 17th until the 19th of November. In addition to the CFG team and representatives of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, 21 CNF members and guests from Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, Libya, Egypt, Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, and Kuwait attended the event. This meeting allowed participants to share information on the latest political developments in North Africa, the Middle-East and the Gulf. Two action-research papers on “Dialogue processes in the MENA region” and on “The impact of the discourse of the war on terror on the MENA region” were presented and discussed. New potential areas of intervention were also explored such as the political participation and civic engagement of youth in Arab-Majority Societies as well as gender perspectives in the Muslim world.
جنيف 2014، الإجتماع الثامن
أجرت مؤسسة قرطبة بجنيف الإجتماع الثامن لمنتدى قرطبة الآن في مدينة جنيف من 17 إلى 19 نوفمبر 2014. بالإضافة إلى فريق مؤسسة قرطبة و ممثلي وزارة الإتحاد السويسري للشؤون الخارجية، فقد حضر الإجتماع كذلك 21 عضوًا من منتدى قرطبة الآن و ضيوف من تونس، المغرب، الجزائر، موريتانيا، ليبيا، مصر، اليمن، العراق، لبنان، و الكويت. سمح هذا الإجتماع للمشاركين بتبادل المعلومات حول آخر المستجدات المتعلقة بالتطورات السياسية في شمال إفريقيا و الشرق الأوسط و الخليج. كما تمّ أيضًا تقديم و مناقشة ورقتي بحث، تتعلق الأولى “بعمليات الحوار في منطقة الشرق الأوسط و شمال إفريقيا” في حين تتعلق الثانية “بأثر خطاب الحرب على الإرهاب في منطقة الشرق الأوسط و شمال إفريقيا”. و قد تمّ إستكشاف مجالات محتملة جديدة للتدخل مثل المشاركة السياسية و الإنخراط المدني للشباب في المجتمعات ذات الأغلبية العربية، بالإضافة إلى التصورات حول النوع الإجتماعي في العالم الإسلامي.
