Quel est donc le rapport entre ces deux termes ?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Si l&rsquo;Islamisme (et son synonyme &laquo; l&rsquo;Islam politique &raquo;), concept d&eacute;velopp&eacute; en Occident, d&eacute;signe l&rsquo;engagement du musulman en politique en se r&eacute;f&eacute;rant aux pr&eacute;ceptes de sa religion, alors il est utile d&rsquo;explorer le rapport du musulman &agrave; l&rsquo;extr&eacute;misme en politique, et &agrave; l&rsquo;extr&eacute;misme tout court. A cet effet, il est important de convoquer une notion coranique importante qui aide &agrave; &eacute;tablir ce rapport. Il s&rsquo;agit de la notion de m&eacute;diatude (<em>wassatiya<\/em> en arabe &ndash; <em>medianhood<\/em> en anglais). Elle d&eacute;note l&rsquo;attitude qui maintient l&rsquo;individu, le groupe et la communaut&eacute; loin des extr&ecirc;mes. Le verset coranique qui introduit ce concept dit : &laquo; Et aussi Nous avons fait de vous une communaut&eacute; du juste milieu (<em>ummatan wassatan<\/em>) pour que vous soyez t&eacute;moins aux gens, comme le Messager sera t&eacute;moin &agrave; vous &raquo; <a href=\"#a1\">(1)<\/a>. En mati&egrave;re de pratique de la religion, deux autres versets coraniques viennent soutenir le pr&eacute;c&eacute;dent en bannissant l&rsquo;exc&egrave;s : &laquo; Ne commettez pas d&rsquo;exc&egrave;s (<em>l\u0101 taghlou<\/em>) dans votre religion &raquo; <a href=\"#a2\">(2, 3)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&laquo; <em>Wassatan<\/em> &raquo; a aussi &eacute;t&eacute; traduit par les termes temp&eacute;r&eacute;, balanc&eacute;, mod&eacute;r&eacute;, situ&eacute; au centre, au milieu, &agrave; la m&eacute;diane. Le plus courant d&rsquo;entre eux est l&rsquo;adjectif &laquo; mod&eacute;r&eacute; &raquo; ; on parle souvent d&rsquo;Islam et de musulman mod&eacute;r&eacute;s. Cependant, ce terme semble manquer de pr&eacute;cision pour transmettre le plein sens de &laquo; <em>wassatan<\/em> &raquo;. Il est vrai que &laquo; mod&eacute;ration &raquo; provient de la racine latine <em>moderari<\/em>, d&eacute;riv&eacute; de <em>modus<\/em>, signifiant la mesure et indiquant donc le sens de la circonspection, la retenue et l&rsquo;&eacute;loignement de tout exc&egrave;s ou exag&eacute;ration. Cependant, la &laquo; mod&eacute;ration &raquo; exprime surtout, par abus de langage peut-&ecirc;tre, la notion de r&eacute;duction, de diminution et d&rsquo;att&eacute;nuation, le fait de rendre moindre. Ne dit-on pas un loyer ou un prix mod&eacute;r&eacute;, une marche mod&eacute;r&eacute;e, un feu mod&eacute;r&eacute; ? Donc &laquo; mod&eacute;r&eacute; &raquo; tend &agrave; indiquer un &eacute;loignement de l&rsquo;exc&egrave;s par le haut sans couvrir forc&eacute;ment l&rsquo;&eacute;loignement de l&rsquo;exc&egrave;s par le bas, qui est &eacute;galement nuisible.<\/p>\n<p>Adopter la posture de la <em>wassatiya<\/em> c&rsquo;est se mettre dans tous les domaines de la vie humaine, dans ses aspects priv&eacute;, professionnel ou public, profane ou religieux, &agrave; &eacute;quidistance des deux extr&ecirc;mes, celui de l&rsquo;exag&eacute;ration et celui de l&rsquo;insuffisance: &agrave; &eacute;quidistance entre l&rsquo;outrance (<em>ghoulou<\/em>) et la d&eacute;ficience (<em>taqs\u012br<\/em>), entre la d&eacute;mesure (<em>ifr\u0101t<\/em>) et la n&eacute;gligence (<em>tafr\u012bt<\/em>), entre la l&acirc;chet&eacute; (<em>joubn<\/em>) et la pr&eacute;cipitation (<em>tahawour<\/em>), entre l&rsquo;avarice (<em>boukhl<\/em>) et le gaspillage (<em>isr\u0101f<\/em>), etc.<\/p>\n<p>En outre, l&rsquo;expression &laquo; musulman mod&eacute;r&eacute; &raquo; a pris avec l&rsquo;usage une forte charge n&eacute;gative ; elle connote, dans les soci&eacute;t&eacute;s musulmanes au moins, un musulman trop accommodant, mou, aplati, docile, maniable, un musulman dissolu et alt&eacute;r&eacute;, un musulman immature, pu&eacute;ril et manipulable. Bref, tout le contraire du &laquo; musulman pur, dur et m&ucirc;r &raquo;, pour reprendre une formule ch&egrave;re &agrave; Rachid Benaissa. C&rsquo;est un qualificatif aussi malheureux que celui de &laquo; musulman tol&eacute;rant &raquo; qui connote un musulman acceptant l&rsquo;injustice et l&rsquo;humiliation. Ceci s&rsquo;expliquerait par des attitudes et des propos indignes de certains musulmans propuls&eacute;s par les m&eacute;dias occidentaux et pr&eacute;sent&eacute;s comme des musulmans mod&eacute;r&eacute;s et tol&eacute;rants, des musulmans mod&egrave;les.<\/p>\n<p>La notion de <em>wassatiya<\/em> est difficile &agrave; traduire par un seul mot en fran&ccedil;ais ou dans d&rsquo;autres langues. C&rsquo;est d&rsquo;ailleurs le cas de nombre de concepts islamiques fondamentaux tels que <em>d\u012bn, isl\u0101m, \u012bm\u0101n, ihs\u0101n, rahma, haqq, kar\u0101ma, &lsquo;adl, jih\u0101d, char\u012b&rsquo;a<\/em>, etc. <a href=\"#a4\">(4)<\/a>. Selon le penseur musulman Abul Al\u0101 al-Maud\u016bdi, qui a traduit en anglais le sens du Coran, &laquo; l&rsquo;expression arabe [<em>ummatan wassatan<\/em>] que nous avons traduit par &lsquo;la communaut&eacute; de la voie du milieu&rsquo; est trop riche en signification pour trouver un &eacute;quivalent ad&eacute;quat dans une autre langue. Elle indique un groupe distingu&eacute; de personnes qui suit le chemin de la justice et de l&rsquo;&eacute;quit&eacute;, de l&rsquo;&eacute;quilibre et de mod&eacute;ration, un groupe qui occupe une position centrale parmi les nations du monde, de fa&ccedil;on &agrave; ce que son amiti&eacute; avec tous soit bas&eacute;e sur la droiture et la justice et que personne ne b&eacute;n&eacute;ficie de son soutien pour la malfaisance et l&rsquo;injustice. &raquo; <a href=\"#a5\">(5)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Le terme <em>wassatiya<\/em> a &eacute;t&eacute; interpr&eacute;t&eacute; par le Proph&egrave;te Mohammed (ppsl) dans l&rsquo;un de ses hadiths par le mot <em>&lsquo;oudoul<\/em> <a href=\"#a6\">(6)<\/a> qui signifie les justes, capables de t&eacute;moignage et de jugement, ce qui donne sens &agrave; la suite du premier verset cit&eacute; plus haut : la <em>wassatiya<\/em> pr&eacute;dispose &agrave; la fonction de t&eacute;moignage aux gens. Il s&rsquo;agit l&agrave; d&rsquo;un t&eacute;moignage actif visant &agrave; am&eacute;liorer le sort de l&rsquo;humanit&eacute;. En fait le t&eacute;moignage s&rsquo;inscrit dans le cadre de la <em>khil\u0101fa<\/em> sur Terre, fonction premi&egrave;re de l&rsquo;Homme qui implique une responsabilit&eacute; active envers toutes les cr&eacute;atures.<\/p>\n<p>Le philosophe alg&eacute;rien et ing&eacute;nieur &eacute;lectricien Malek Bennabi aimait &agrave; dire que &laquo; le musulman est un transformateur social &raquo; ; il a en particulier pour vocation d&rsquo;&ecirc;tre un transformateur de conflits. Il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;un devoir religieux. Chaque membre de la communaut&eacute; musulmane (<em>umma<\/em>) doit aspirer &agrave; &ecirc;tre un m&eacute;diateur (<em>wass\u012bt<\/em>) entre les gens &ndash; et pas uniquement entre les musulmans, le Coran est clair &agrave; ce sujet <a href=\"#a7\">(7)<\/a> &ndash; qui &oelig;uvre pour tirer les parties en conflits vers un terrain d&rsquo;entente (<em>kalimatin saw\u0101<\/em> &ndash; common ground).<\/p>\n<p>Si la m&eacute;diature d&eacute;signe le lieu et l&rsquo;espace de m&eacute;diation (<em>wass\u0101ta<\/em>), la m&eacute;diatude (<em>wassatiya<\/em>) pourrait &ecirc;tre assimil&eacute;e &agrave; la pr&eacute;disposition intellectuelle et psychologique indispensable &agrave; la r&eacute;ussite de tout processus de m&eacute;diation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abbas Aroua<\/strong><br \/>13 juin 2014<\/p>\n<p><em>Notes de r&eacute;f&eacute;rence :<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"a1\"><\/a>(1) Coran, 2:143.<br \/><a name=\"a2\"><\/a>(2) Coran, 4:171.<br \/><a name=\"a3\"><\/a>(3) Coran, 5:77.<br \/><a name=\"a4\"><\/a>(4) Abbas Aroua.
