Mali
Since 2013, CFG has been involved in projects in the Sahel Region and in particular in Mali in partnership with the Swiss FDFA. These initiatives focus on the themes of peace promotion, mediation space creation and the enhancement of conflict transformation skills.
The situation in Mali is marked by the stalemate of the Algiers Agreement, the upsurge of violence and its extension throughout the country. Previously limited to the north of the country, starting from January 2012, violent conflicts are now spreading towards the west, the centre and the south of the country. This situation results from the emergence of new communitarian actors who seem to want to join their identity-based claims with those of violent movements with religious connotations active in the country since 2012. The current project in Mali is based on the creation of an intra-communal dialogue between actors from the North, South and Centre, and was launched following the Nouakchott Sahel Platform meeting of December 2015.
